Welcome to the official website of the Saltwood Miniature Railway.
Our railway closed in 1987, but at that time (and for many years previously) is was the oldest surviving miniature railway in the world. We deeply regret the passing of this lovely and historic line, but through this website we are able to maintain a web presence for a lost, but not forgotten, piece of railway history. In accord with the spirit of the age, the site of the Saltwood Miniature Railway is now an estate of modern houses, packed together, and crowded around the great house through whose grounds our railway used to run; but in the pages of this website you may return to a gentler age of English rural life, and reflect on the passing glories of a bygone age.
